The Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Architecture Project Manager to guide our projects from initial planning to final completion. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for clients and the central hub for the internal project team and external consultants.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Manage all phases of architectural projects from pre-design through to completion and occupancy.
- Client Relations: Serve as the primary client liaison. Manage client expectations, lead milestone meetings, and ensure the final design aligns with the client’s vision and project intent.
- Schedule & Budget Management: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and fee budgets. Monitor project financial performance, track billings, and manage scope creep or additional services.
- Team Coordination: Direct the day-to-day activities of internal project architects and designers. Coordinate external engineering and specialty consultants to ensure seamless integration of building systems.
- Quality Control: Oversee the preparation of drawing sets and specifications. Ensure all deliverables meet firm standards, zoning requirements, and building codes.
- Permitting & Approvals: Lead the project through local zoning, planning, and building department review processes, liaising with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
- Construction Administration: Oversee the CA phase, including reviewing RFIs, submittals, and pay applications, and conducting regular site visits to ensure construction aligns with design intent.
- Business Development: Occasionally attend professional conferences, networking events, and meet and greet events with potential/existing clients. Assist the marketing team in pursuit of projects you’ll be managing and attend pre-selection interviews, walk-throughs and meetings in your capacity as Project Manager.
Qualifications
Required:
- Professional degree in Architecture.
- 7+ years of professional architectural experience, with at least 3+ years functioning as a Project Manager.
- Demonstrated experience managing project fees, budgets, and schedules.
- Strong technical knowledge of building construction, detailing, and current building codes (IBC, ADA, etc.).
- Proficiency in project management and scheduling software and tools.
- Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam Revu.
- Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and written/verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
- Registered Architect (RA) license.
- LEED AP, WELL AP, or other sustainability credentials.
- Experience with institutional, higher education and municipal projects bid under MGL Chapter 149. Chapter 149a CMaR also highly desirable.
